The War on Easter
(This was a promotional event held in 2006 for the movie The God Who Wasn't There and this page is for historical purposes. Although you can still carry out the actions suggested here, Beyond Belief Media is no longer rewarding such acts.)
Declaring War on Easter, Beyond Belief Media has launched a preemptive attack on the Christian holiday. "Operation Easter Sanity" has already begun. As only 14% of Americans concede that the resurrection never happened, we must make more people aware of the facts.
Using its documentary THE GOD WHO WASN'T THERE as the chief weapon, Beyond Belief Media is covertly planting DVDs of the film in churches throughout the United States. The popular movie, available from Amazon.com's independent documentaries list, is critical of the irrational beliefs of Christians and asserts that Jesus Christ did not exist.
If you don’t currently have a DVD, just download some of the free flyers, hide them creatively in one or more Christian churches between now and Easter Sunday. Take pictures of yourself doing at least one plant (very important), and email them with your report to pictures@beyondbeliefmedia.com so that we can publish your mission on the site. In return, you will get a brand new DVD of THE GOD WHO WASN'T THERE. If your mission hits more than one church, your DVD will be personally inscribed and signed by Brian Flemming.
The main objective of Beyond Belief Media is to provoke conversation about the dangers of religious belief. ”The children we’re trying to reach have already been targeted. They’ve been instructed to believe some of the craziest things imaginable: That there’s a horrible place called Hell, where they may be tortured for eternity — unless they believe that a man died, stayed dead three days, rose from the dead and flew into the air. Given that these children have already been indoctrinated in this Bronze Age insanity, is it really so wrong to try to relieve their terror by letting them know that this frightening scheme may just be fantasy?"
