Promote Freethought Heroes

By the word "hero" we mean anyone who has name recognition and is openly non-religious. The purpose is to gain public recognition of the fact that Freethinkers can be ethical, successful, law-abiding citizens who contribute to society in many ways. There are several sites which list famous non-theists.

One way to honor those heroes who have passed away is to research whether any of them are buried near your home and then visit the grave to determine if it is being cared for. If not, you may want to adopt the task yourself. Advertise the presence of the grave locally through a letter to the editor or radio talk show and maybe you can get some help. You can search for graves by name or location at findagrave.com, which even allows you to leave a flag or flowers and a note.

And then there are the Atheist superheroes who have no gravesites.
