Public Proclamations
Write a letter to your Mayor or Governor asking them to issue a proclamation
similar to one of these examples:
The first proclamation shown refers to the fortunate fact that, before this country was even
formed, on October
12, 1692 Governor Phips ordered that the Salem "witch trials" be
ended and spectral evidence no longer be admitted in court. This was a key
moment in the formation of a secular and sensible judicial system.
The second refers to the secular nature of the U.S. constitution and the
separation of church and state.
The third proclamation is for a Day of Reason to counter the National Day of
Prayer on the first Thursday in May.
