Secure Public Proclamations

Write a letter to your Mayor or Governor asking them to issue a proclamation similar to one of these examples:

The first proclamation shown refers to the fortunate fact that, before this country was even formed, on October 12, 1692 Governor Phips ordered that the Salem "witch trials" be ended and spectral evidence no longer be admitted in court. This was a key moment in the formation of a secular and sensible judicial system.

The second refers to the secular nature of the U.S. constitution and the separation of church and state.

The third proclamation is for a Day of Reason to counter the National Day of Prayer on the first Thursday in May.

Gainesville Humanists

Once you have the Mayor's signature on a proclamation, make sure the local newspaper hears about it.
