Many religious organizations, especially the larger ones, have 800 lines for people to contact them more easily. Phone companies charge between 5 cents and 20 cents per minute to the organization for this service. It adds up! The minumum billing rate is $300 per hour. Each time you call one of the numbers below, that group loses money to the phone company. It costs you nothing except a minute (or 10) of your time. There is an irrational arguement that this is exactly what god wants you to do. However, many 800 systems allow the host to block specific phone numbers from calling so don't let on why you are making the call or you may get only one chance. When you call a prayer line, you are wasting their money, the time of the person who answers and the person who sits around wishfully thinking on your request.
