VOTE!

"Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote." ~ George Jean Nathan (1882-1958)

Be sure you're registered to vote. First, check the qualifications to vote in your state, then use the widget to the right to register to vote. To find out where you are to vote, you can contact your local election officials. Did you know that if your registration record cannot be found or your eligibility to vote is questioned at the polls, you may still cast a Provisional Ballot on Election Day? A provisional ballot is used to record a vote when there is some question in regards to a given voter's eligibility. A provisional ballot would be cast when:

It is a civic duty to vote. As a member of a minority class it is even more important for you to get to the polls. The Christian Coalition, though now in a waning stage, attained political power by getting out the vote. The best way to stop its theocratic agenda is to get out and vote on EVERY election day, not just the presidential elections. For more information specific to your state, such as ID requirements, early voting and more, see Vote411.org.

EnlightenTheVote.com is a non-partisan political action committee working to get Atheists elected to office. We endorse and donate to Atheist candidates but we will also support secularists who agree with us on our issues and the civil rights of Atheists. Enlighten The Vote grew out of the historic "Godless Americans March on Washington" (GAMOW) held on November 2, 2002 in Washington, DC. On that memorable day, for the first time in history, the diverse community of Atheists, Freethinkers, Secular Humanists and other non-religious Americans gathered in our nation’s capitol to demonstrate to the world that we are free, proud and on the move.

"The Secular Coalition for America is a 501(c)4 advocacy organization whose purpose is to amplify the diverse and growing voice of the nontheistic community in the United States. " At 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2002, the morning after the Godless Americans March on Washington, leaders of three of these organizations (the Atheist Alliance International, the Institute for Humanist Studies, and the Internet Infidels) met for breakfast at the Capitol Hilton in Washington, D.C. to set in motion the founding of the Secular Coalition for America (a name the organizations had agreed upon over e-mail in the weeks prior to the meeting). Because of all these groups' status as 501(c)3 educational nonprofits with strict limits on lobbying activities, they made a decision to incorporate the Coalition as a 501(c)4 advocacy organization in order to facilitate, for the first time, unlimited lobbying on behalf of nontheistic Americans. Show your support for the only Freethought lobbyist, the Secular Coalition for America by donating and staying in touch through their action alerts.
